#9 Gruyere

On paper at least, the Gruyere gold project is the largest undeveloped gold deposit in Australia. It has a 3.5m ounce gold reserve and a 6.2m ounce resource.

South Africa's Gold Fields bought into Gruyere last year, paying $350m for a 50 per cent stake. The vendor, ASX-listed Gold Road Resources, is planning to begin production by early 2019, mining 270,000 ounces per annum over a 13-year mine-life.

Gold Road kept a 1.5 per cent royalty over Gold Fields' share of production. At current prices the royalty would generate well over $2m per annum.
